The inauguration also signals the beginning of the GSIS’s 88th anniversary celebration, themed “GSIS at 88: Basta Sama-Sama, Tuloy-Tuloy ang Ginhawa,” and coincides with the nationwide observance of Ease of Doing Business Month
The two-story facility, located within the Philippine National Railways Compound on Governor Pack Road, replaces the previous rented office on Kisad Road. GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by Baguio City Representative Mark Go and Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who both lauded the agency’s investment in efficient and member-friendly services.
“Having our own office in Baguio is more than a logistical convenience,” Veloso said. “It is a declaration of commitment to our members who have dedicated their lives to public service, and commitment to this region, whose growth and development GSIS proudly supports.”
The new branch occupies a 3,132-square-meter lot and offers 1,400 square meters of improved operational space. It features a spacious members’ lounge, an in-house clinic, transaction-specific service areas, and ample parking. Its strategic location near Burnham Park, the Department of Education building, and a P2P terminal ensures easy access for members.
A highlight of the facility is the Digital and Ease of Doing Business Center, equipped with tablets that allow clients to check their accounts and conduct transactions efficiently. This digital upgrade aligns with GSIS’s broader nationwide strategy to modernize services and integrate technology to reduce bureaucratic delays.
“Ang amin pong parating naiisip sa paggawa ng Ease of Doing Business o pagbigay ng ginhawa sa ating mga miyembro ay ang paggamit ng teknolohiya,” (What we always keep in mind when implementing Ease of Doing Business or providing convenience to our members is the use of technology) Veloso emphasized in a media interview. He added that GSIS aims to incorporate artificial intelligence in its IT infrastructure to provide faster, more responsive service.
Currently, GSIS Baguio serves 40,253 members and pensioners and 162 government agencies.
