Insider Spotlight
The announcement, detailed in a press release from PHINMA Education, highlights the organization’s mission to make lives better through accessible and high-quality learning.
The new structure — now the tallest university building in Karawang — brings Horizon University Indonesia’s total capacity to nearly 10,000 students.
“Across the PHINMA Group, our mission has always been to unlock opportunities for underserved families: by providing homes, building better infrastructure, creating jobs through hospitality, and opening doors through education. This building is a testament of our earnest desire to give the best to our students, because they deserve nothing less than the best education,” said PHINMA CEO Ramon R. del Rosario Jr.
A milestone for PHINMA’s regional expansion
The Horizon East building was inaugurated on Nov. 10, led by del Rosario Jr., with PHINMA Education president and CEO Chito B. Salazar, PHINMA Education country head for Indonesia Dr. Raymundo Reyes, Triputra Persada Horizon Education Foundation chair Ade Hendriawan, Triputra Group president director Tjandra Karya Hermanto, Triputra Group vice president commissioner Hadi Kasim, and attended by local government officials and industry partners in Indonesia.
PHINMA Education and the Triputra Persada Horizon Education Foundation have been partners since 2019, when PHINMA began managing Horizon University Indonesia and Kalbis University in Jakarta.
Both institutions are part of the Horizon Education network, which aims to develop globally competent and socially responsible “Global Indonesians” who can meaningfully contribute to national development.
Since PHINMA Education’s entry, Horizon University Indonesia has strengthened its academic performance.
Its Nursing, Accounting, and Management programs have received top accreditations from the Indonesian Ministry of Education. Its Nursing and Midwifery programs achieved a 100-percent passing rate and an 86-percent employment rate, reflecting its strong focus on job readiness and employability.
What’s next
With its expanded facilities, Horizon University Indonesia will soon introduce new programs in education and social sciences, complementing existing courses in health, IT, and business.
Kalbis University, meanwhile, will launch programs in nursing, midwifery, and education.
“Our next step is East Java. By establishing a campus in Surabaya, we will open our doors to serve a market of 100,000 graduating SHS students. With campuses in both West and East Java… Horizon Education will be well-positioned to broaden its reach and make quality education even more accessible,” said Dr. Reyes.
Why it matters
In a country where access to higher education remains uneven, PHINMA Education’s ongoing expansion marks a significant investment in Indonesia’s human capital — empowering more young people to gain the skills, credentials, and confidence to shape a more inclusive and competitive future. — Princess Daisy C.
