City Savings Bank has partnered with Khan Academy Philippines to strengthen professional development for Filipino teachers, expanding access to Artificial Intelligence-powered tools designed to improve classroom instruction and learning outcomes.

The collaboration reinforces CitySavings’ push to become the country’s leading mass market bank while deepening its long-standing advocacy for the education sector, particularly in underserved and remote communities.

Why it matters

Teachers remain at the core of addressing learning gaps across the Philippines. By equipping educators with AI-driven resources, the partnership aims to ease administrative burdens and allow teachers to focus more on mentoring students and strengthening foundational skills.

The big picture

Through the Khan Academy platform, teachers gain access to Khanmigo, an AI-powered teaching assistant that supports lesson planning, assessment creation, and real-time classroom management.

Students, in turn, benefit from self-paced learning tools that reinforce comprehension and problem-solving.

CitySavings said the initiative builds on years of collaboration with the Department of Education, including support for Brigada Eskwela, Brigada Pagbasa, and donations of learning equipment and technology to public schools.

What they’re saying

“Our partnership with Khan Academy Philippines is a significant step in CitySavings’ commitment to elevating the Philippine education sector,” shared CitySavings assistant vice president - reputation and brand management head Paula Ruelan.

“By providing teachers with AI-powered resources like Khanmigo, we are not just supporting their current professional development, but actively co-creating a sustainable, future-ready learning environment where both educators and students can thrive and lead in the digital age,” Ruelan added.

Teacher-participants echoed similar sentiments on the practical value of the tools in daily instruction.

“The interactive practice exercises and instant feedback significantly enhance learning,” said Mikee Landicho, a teacher from Camp Vicente Lim Integrated School.

By the numbers

More than 300 teachers from the Sta. Rosa and Calamba clusters in Laguna completed training sessions held on Nov. 28 and Dec. 4, 2025, marking one of the initial rollouts of the program.
