Insider Spotlight

  • Dr. George T. Yang donates 52nd Bahay Bulilit Learning Center
  • Initiative supports access to quality early education nationwide
  • Program now reaches over 5,000 preschoolers yearly

McDonald’s Philippines founder and chair Dr. George T. Yang continues his lifelong advocacy for Filipino children’s education with the opening of the 52nd Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit Learning Center in Biñan, Laguna.

The new center, a personal gift from Dr. Yang, underscores his mission to create safe, nurturing environments where children aged two to four can learn, play, and grow.

Each Bahay Bulilit Learning Center provides access to early education for up to 100 children every school year— a critical step in improving access to quality learning opportunities in underserved communities.

Why it matters

Experts emphasize that the first five years of life are crucial for cognitive, emotional, and social development. However, access to quality early education and safe learning spaces remains limited in many areas.

Bahay Bulilit centers bridge this gap by ensuring that young learners receive holistic support, including proper facilities, reading nooks, and hygiene stations.

“My hope is that this Bahay Bulilit becomes a safe and happy place where learning begins and dreams take root,” Dr. Yang said in a press release on Nov. 12, 2025.

The big picture

The Biñan center, located in Barangay Poblacion, was officially turned over to the city government on Oct. 24. It will be managed by the City Social Work and Development Office, offering free early childhood education.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) now operates 52 centers nationwide, collectively nurturing over 5,000 children annually.

“A strong start in life can make all the difference. When we nurture children early, we help build not just brighter futures for them, but a stronger future for the country,” Dr. Yang added.

The bottom line

Through the RMHC, McDonald’s Philippines continues to strengthen its commitment to community development by expanding access to safe, quality early learning spaces.

“Dr. George Yang’s vision began with a simple belief—that every child deserves the chance to learn and dream,” said lawyer Deng De Guzman, RMHC corporate secretary.
