The collaboration combines Globe’s digital reach with Khan Academy’s global educational content to empower both students and educators.
Why it matters
The initiative supports ongoing Department of Education reforms, including school digitalization, teacher development, and connectivity projects — key steps in bridging the education gap across the Philippines.
Driving the news
At the core of the partnership is a digital skills program that blends nationwide internet access with high-quality online learning. The program delivers lessons in STEM, digital literacy, online safety, and essential life skills, accessible through the Khan Academy website or via the GlobeOne app.
Students can now take courses aligned with DepEd’s current curriculum.
Teachers can use Khanmigo, an AI teaching assistant that helps with administrative tasks and supports instruction in local languages, including Tagalog, Waray, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, and Ilocano.
What they’re saying
“Education must evolve with the times. We use technology to make learning easier and more effective for both students and teachers,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
“By working with Khan Academy Philippines, we’re opening doors to leapfrog our students to 21st century learning. Using the GlobeOne app, the pedagogy is inclusive, relevant, and within reach.”
Khan Academy Philippines president and CEO Geraldine B. Acuña-Sunshine called the effort “bayanihan in action,” envisioning classrooms enhanced with smart tools and open access to global knowledge.
Between the lines
The collaboration also includes an employee volunteer program, where Globe employees will guide partner schools and communities in using Khan Academy resources.
Earlier this year, Globe — in partnership with Khan Academy and Ayala Foundation — provided tablets, Blue Boards, and Globe Fiber Prepaid WiFi to five schools under its G-Gantic Goals program:
CENTEX Manila (Tondo)
Pasong Kawayan 2 West Elementary School (Cavite City)
Lahug Elementary School (Cebu City)
CENTEX Batangas (Bauan)
Pampanga High School (San Fernando City)
What they’re saying (DepEd)
“By bridging our learners and educators to digital tools, we’re not just easing the learning process, we’re empowering dreams and shaping their future,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
Globe and Khan Academy Philippines are calling on students, teachers, parents, and school administrators to access free digital courses through Khan Academy or the GlobeOne app (Essentials → Khan Academy).
