Collins Aerospace expanding manufacturing facility at FPIP

Collins Aerospace, a business of US-based aerospace and defense giant RTX Corp. is expanding its manufacturing footprint at the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) in Tanauan City, Batangas.

The expansion follows the signing of a new agreement between Collins Aerospace and FPIP on Jan. 8, 2026.

The move will add 7,846 square meters to Collins Aerospace’s existing facility within the industrial park. The additional space is expected to enhance operational efficiency, increase production output, and address rising demand in the global aerospace sector.

The new facility is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2026.

Supporting aviation growth

Collins Aerospace manufactures airplane cabin interior products such as galleys, galley inserts, lavatories, and seating systems.

The company recently supplied new economy class seats for the refurbished Philippine Airlines Airbus A321ceo fleet, further strengthening its presence on the global stage.

“FPIP has been instrumental as Collins has incrementally grown its Philippine-based operations, capabilities and expertise since 2012,”  Mary DeStaffan, general manager of Collins Aerospace’s Philippine campus, said in a company statement.

“This growth is critical for Collins to best support the rapidly growing aviation industry in-country and region, as well as airliners and airframers around the globe,” she added.

Boosting local industry

FPIP officials said the expansion signals strong demand for advanced aerospace manufacturing in the Philippines.

“This expansion marks a major milestone for both Collins Aerospace and FPIP. It not only reflects the growing demand for advanced aerospace manufacturing in the country. It also highlights FPIP’s ability to support companies like Collins Aerospace in growing operations while generating employment for Filipinos,” said Yutaro Kuryu, FPIP senior vice president and head of industrial business group, in the same statement.

He emphasized that the development goes beyond increasing physical space.

“This is not just about having a bigger space or bigger operations. It is about the impact they are helping the Philippines make in the global aerospace industry, and more importantly, the opportunities they are making for the Filipino workforce,” Kuryu said.

FPIP is a 600-hectare industrial park established in 1996 through a joint venture between First Philippine Holdings Corp. and Japan’s Sumitomo Corp. It hosts more than 150 locators and employs nearly 80,000 workers.
