Insider Spotlight
Pineda succeeds Carol Ng, who will remain with the company until her planned retirement at the end of March.
The big picture
Pineda will oversee creative and business operations across multiple territories in Asia, with a mandate to deepen relationships with clients and industry partners while expanding global support for songwriters in the region.
She will be based in Hong Kong and report directly to Guy Henderson, president, International at Sony Music Publishing.
Pineda said, “I am thrilled to take on this leadership role at Sony Music Publishing Asia during such an exciting time for our industry and our region. I look forward to collaborating with our talented team and working closely with Guy Henderson and Jon Platt to empower our songwriters across Asia.”
“Together, we will foster a vibrant, energetic environment that prioritizes creativity and innovation, ensuring that the voices of our creators are heard and celebrated. Keen to make great things happen,” she added.
Why it matters
Asia has become a strategic growth engine for global music companies, fueled by rising streaming penetration and the global crossover of Asian artists. Leadership continuity and regional expertise are critical as publishers compete to sign and develop top songwriting talent.
Henderson said, “I am so pleased that Ros will take over the reins as president for SMP Asia, which is one of our most important and continuously expanding international regions. With Ros’s success in the artist development and creative space, as well as her experience of more than two decades in the music business, she brings a new focus to the region to further expand our business into the future."
Track record
Pineda joins the publishing division from Sony Music, where she most recently served as general manager, Philippines, and earlier as vice president, artist relations and business development, Asia.
She has worked across Hong Kong and the Philippines since 2001, collaborating with artists including John Mayer, F4, Leehom Wang, Jessi, Sekai No Owari, Ricky Martin, Alicia Keys, and One Direction.
From late 2018, she led the reopening of SMP's Philippines office, signed Ben and Ben, SB19 and IV OF SPADES, and oversaw the acquisition of the ABS-CBN music catalogue in 2024. She was named Billboard Philippines’ first-ever Music Industry Executive of the Year in 2025.
The transition
Ng first joined the company in 1998 and rose through finance and regional leadership roles before being appointed President, Asia in 2021. She led expansion into new markets, including Jakarta in 2021 and Bangkok in 2025, while paving the way for a Manila office later this year.
On her retirement, Henderson said, “Carol Ng has led our company in Asia with great distinction and success for many years. During her time, she expanded our business into new territories and established us as the leading publisher across the region. Her contributions have positioned our team for further growth, and we are incredibly grateful for all that he has done for the company.”
Ng said, "Throughout all these years my team and I have had good synergies with each other, we have worked and built together the leading market position in the region. It has therefore been a difficult decision for me to retire but there is a time for everything. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and a personal plan to gradually stay in the U.K.” —Ramon C. Nocon | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
