Mastercard has appointed Jason Crasto as its new country manager for the Philippines, tasking him with steering the company’s strategic direction and accelerating digital payments adoption in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing markets.

In his new role, Crasto will oversee Mastercard’s efforts to advance the Philippines’ national digital payments roadmap. This includes working with both public and private sectors to promote secure, smart, and inclusive payment ecosystems that benefit consumers and businesses alike.

“Jason’s leadership and industry expertise will be pivotal as Mastercard deepens its role as a trusted partner in the Philippines’ digital transformation journey,” Safdar Khan, division president for Southeast Asia at Mastercard, said in a press release on Nov. 5, 2025. 

“With his extensive payments experience and passion for driving inclusive, innovation-led growth, we are confident that Jason will build on our strong foundations and drive the next chapter of growth for Mastercard in the Philippines," he adds.

A veteran in payments

Crasto brings more than two decades of experience spanning consumer, commercial, and digital payments. Since joining Mastercard in 2020, he has managed major client relationships and spearheaded innovations in card payments, commercial solutions, and digital ecosystems.

“I am honored to oversee Mastercard’s business in the Philippines and contribute to the country’s digital growth,” Crasto said. “I look forward to working with our talented and dedicated Mastercard team, as well as our customers and partners to deliver innovative payments solutions that empower Filipinos, and help build a more connected, secure, and inclusive digital future for the Philippines.”

Sustaining digital momentum

The appointment comes as the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reports that digital transactions now account for over 57 percent of retail payments, marking a milestone in the nation’s financial digitization drive.
