NUSTAR taps COREnergy to power its expanding operations

NUSTAR Resort & Casino Cebu has partnered with COREnergy, the retail electricity arm of Vivant Energy, to supply its retail electricity requirements—an important move to support the integrated resort’s large-scale, high-performance operations.

As Cebu’s premier destination for luxury hospitality, gaming, retail, and entertainment, NUSTAR requires stable, efficient, and scalable power solutions to keep pace with its expanding footprint.

The partnership strengthens the resort’s operational backbone at a time when demand for energy reliability continues to rise across the industry.

Driving the partnership

NUSTAR’s leadership underscored that world-class guest experiences rely on seamless back-end systems—energy included.

“At NUSTAR, we are committed to creating a world-class destination where every experience is seamless. Partnering with COREnergy supports that commitment by giving us reliable energy solutions that meet the level of excellence our brand demands,” said Trevor Hammond, senior vice president for gaming & integrated resort operations.

COREnergy, meanwhile, positions itself as an energy solutions partner with tailored offerings backed by data-driven tools.

“Energy should be simple. Our role is to provide smarter, tailor-fitted solutions that add value to businesses,” Francis Del Val, COREnergy president said in a press statement.

“We are excited to work with NUSTAR by supplying competitively priced electricity and helping them understand consumption patterns through our My Power Platform.”

COREnergy’s My Power Platform gives businesses access to consumption analytics, allowing them to optimize energy utilization and plan more efficiently.

Industry context

The partnership aligns with Vivant Corp.’s broader push for innovative and sustainable energy solutions that improve everyday living and strengthen business operations.

It also comes ahead of an industry shift: the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will lower the contestable threshold to 100 kW starting 2026, enabling more commercial establishments to enter the Retail Electricity Supply (RES) market.

This transition is expected to expand the adoption of customized, competitive power solutions—an area where COREnergy is positioning itself strongly through flexible energy plans and technology-enabled support.

The bottom line

For NUSTAR, the agreement ensures the resort has the robust energy foundation needed to deliver world-class experiences.

For COREnergy, it strengthens its foothold in the growing RES market—where demand for choice, reliability, and smarter energy management continues to accelerate. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
