Bakery giant Julie's taps COREnergy for commissary power supply

Cebu-based Julie's Bakeshop has tapped Vivant Energy Corp.'s retail electricity arm, COREnergy, to supply power to its commissary operations as the bakery chain seeks to manage energy costs more strategically.

The partnership comes as food manufacturers grapple with volatile commodity prices, rising wages, and higher logistics costs, making electricity one of the largest controllable operating expenses.

Julie's commissaries serve as the backbone of its operations, producing breads and baked goods distributed across its network of stores nationwide.

By sourcing electricity through the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program, also known as the Power Choice Program, the company aims to optimize its energy consumption and improve operational efficiency.

Julie's, in a statement, said better energy management could free up resources for production upgrades, investments in modern equipment, and future expansion, supporting its mission of providing affordable bread and baked products to Filipino families while adapting to evolving business conditions. —Ed: Corrie S.
