Insider Spotlight
The milestone reflects two years of nationwide field hospital services and the rollout of a tech-enabled model designed to bring early detection and preventive care directly into communities.
The big picture
Access remains one of the most persistent challenges in Philippine health care, particularly in rural and geographically isolated areas. 1Life’s approach flips the traditional system by taking diagnostics and consultations out of hospitals and into barangays, schools, and workplaces.
Using portable devices, cloud-based patient records, and AI-assisted workflows, the company has reduced what typically takes four days of referrals and waiting into a single one-hour community visit.
Why it matters
Early detection is critical in preventing complications that strain families and the public health system. Through community medical runs, patients receive services such as CBC, X-ray, ultrasound, ECG, urinalysis, and blood chemistry, followed immediately by physician consultations and medicines.
This integrated setup lowers both cost and time barriers, making preventive care more realistic for underserved populations.
Driving force
At the core of the model is the 1Life Digital Community Healthcare System, which links field missions, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, and laboratories into one digital ecosystem.
DocMate AI, trained on hundreds of thousands of Filipino patient records, supports clinical workflows, while the 1Life Health App allows patients to access records, medicine reminders, and health education. Together, these tools enable higher patient volumes without sacrificing quality, even in low-resource settings.
What they are saying
“Reaching one million patients is a reminder that accessible health care can change lives when delivered with consistency, compassion, and the right technology. Every person we serve represents a family and a story, and we carry that responsibility with humility,” Nino Namoco, president of 1Life Inc., said in a press release on Dec. 12, 2025.
“Our goal remains simple. 1Life is dedicated to making quality primary health care accessible to all, particularly the underserved communities. Central to our program is the early detection and prevention of diseases, which has enabled us to reach a million patients and further the pursuit of universal health equity,” he added.
What’s next
Aligned with national goals for universal health coverage, 1Life continues to partner with DOH, PhilHealth, local governments, and DepEd programs. Its growing footprint across more than 1,261 municipalities positions the company as a key player in using technology to make healthcare more accessible, preventive, and community-centered across the country. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Corrie S.
