International Workplace Group (IWG), the global leader in flexible office and workspace solutions, has expanded its portfolio beyond co-working spaces by stepping into healthcare facility management.

On Sept. 23, IWG formalized its first healthcare venture through a partnership with the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) to operate the newly built Super Health Center in Casiguran, Aurora.

The signing ceremony was led by APECO President and CEO Atty. Gil G. Taway IV and IWG Philippines country manager Rowena Natividad in Taguig City.

First-of-its-kind for IWG globally

The partnership marks the first time IWG is managing a medical facility—a move that broadens the company’s global footprint.

Under the deal, IWG will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Super Health Center, applying its expertise in efficiency, facility management, and service standards to improve patient care.

The P16.83-million facility, funded by APECO, was completed in February 2024. It is designed to serve both ecozone locators and the local community, while also preparing the area for future retirement and wellness investments under the planned “Silver Town.”

Boosting Aurora’s investment appeal

“For IWG to choose APECO as the site for this pioneering business model reflects the rising confidence of global companies in Bagong APECO,” said Taway.

He noted that the partnership highlights the zone’s commitment to public-private collaboration, maximizing existing infrastructure to deliver world-class services.

Taway added that this venture establishes a strong foundation for more collaborations that connect Aurora to international investors.

APECO, tasked with driving economic growth in Aurora, has been pursuing a bold strategy to attract global firms by unlocking public assets through joint ventures and public-private partnerships (PPPs).

Healthcare meets ecozone potential

Natividad underscored Aurora’s strategic location along the eastern seaboard, with direct access to international logistics and unique natural beauty. “Aurora is an ideal location for a medical facility that promotes wellness, care, and treatment,” she said.

“With growing demand for quality healthcare and limited infrastructure, this partnership is a vital step in bridging the gap—bringing real benefits to the community through IWG’s strong network and resources,” Natividad added.

The deal comes as investor interest in APECO surges, positioning Aurora as an emerging hub for growth, innovation, and now, healthcare.  —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
