AC Health partners with Taiwan’s Chang Gung Memorial Hospital to expand advanced cancer treatment options
Filipino patients can now access Proton Beam Therapy, a cutting-edge method that targets tumors with high precision
Collaboration includes research, physician training, and cross-border referrals to strengthen oncology care
Filipino cancer patients now have access to Asia’s largest Proton Therapy Center through a new partnership between Ayala-led AC Health and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), Taiwan’s largest healthcare group.
Why it matters
The collaboration gives patients of Healthway Cancer Care Hospital (HCCH), AC Health’s flagship oncology facility, access to Proton Beam Therapy, a pioneering treatment known for its precision in targeting tumors while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
This technology is especially beneficial for patients with tumors near critical organs such as the lungs, heart, spinal cord, and brain, where conventional radiation risks severe side effects.

The partnership
Under the agreement, HCCH will refer eligible patients to CGMH’s Proton and Radiation Therapy Center under agreed protocols. Care coordinators from both hospitals will manage logistics and treatment requirements.
The tie-up also includes:
Virtual tumor boards and case conferences to allow Filipino and Taiwanese doctors to share expertise
Clinical rotations and observerships for HCCH physicians at CGMH, with a focus on radiation oncology and proton beam therapy
Joint research initiatives where de-identified clinical outcomes will be shared to improve global understanding of cancer treatments

Big picture
CGMH operates Taiwan’s two premier proton therapy centers, including Asia’s largest at its Linkou branch, launched in 2015. A second facility opened in Kaohsiung in 2018.
For AC Health, the move deepens its global healthcare collaborations. HCCH has previously partnered with City of Hope in the United States and Singapore’s National Cancer Centre, reinforcing its commitment to raising oncology standards in the Philippines.
What they’re saying
