CEU, listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange with a market value of P5.2 billion, said in its latest annual report the 2020 expansion program for a new student dormitory, new dentistry building, more commercial spaces and renovation, will be finished in August 2025.
117-year-old history
In April 2027, it will have new laboratory equipment across all campuses, a new 8-story building in Manila, road and drainage improvements and a multipurpose center in the Makati City campus.
CEU was founded in 1907 by Doña Librada Avelino and Doña Carmen de Luna.
Its main campus site, which houses 13 buildings, is located on a two-hectare property in Mendiola, Manila. It also has schools in Makati City and Malolos, Bulacan.
CEU had total enrollments of 36,700 students for the entire school year 2023-2024 across all year levels.
Dentistry top program for foreigners
Foreign student enrollment for school year 2023-2024 was 159 in the first semester and 154 in the second, showing a 17.78 percent and 6.21 percent increase, respectively, from the previous year.
Most foreign students enrolled in the Dentistry program, with Chinese students being the largest group.
Dividends
Revenues grew 27.7 percent to P2.4 billion during the past year while net income surged 56 percent to almost P617 million.
During a special meeting last Oct. 3, 2024, the CEU board approved a 20 percent stock dividend, totaling 74.5 million shares, based on a market value of P13.3 per share.
This amounts to P990.62 million to be drawn from the company’s unrestricted retained earnings as of May 31, 2024. The company has yet to finalize the record and payment dates.
