Through a new agreement signed at the Robinsons Equitable Tower, GBF committed to sustaining scholarships, teacher training, and technology programs aimed at advancing STEM education, the foundation announced on its Facebook page.
The Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, established in 1992 by John, Henry, Johnson, and James Gokongwei, leverages its majority stake in JG Summit Holdings to drive lasting impact on Philippine education and nation-building.
Scholarship benefits
At the core of this initiative is the GBF-Gokongwei Group STEM Scholarship for Excellence, which supports underprivileged yet talented college students pursuing priority STEM courses.
Scholars receive annual grants ranging from P80,000 to P120,000, depending on their university, alongside leadership training, skill development programs, and internship opportunities within the Gokongwei Group, whose business span property development, airlines, food and beverage, energy and telecommunications.
Career opportunities in a P150-billion conglomerate
The program goes beyond financial aid, fostering holistic development through upskilling activities and employment opportunities with the Gokongwei Group after graduation.
Students must maintain strong academic performance each semester to keep their scholarships, ensuring a focus on excellence and accountability.
Hundreds of scholars
Since its inception, the program has supported 352 graduates and currently assists 248 active scholars, highlighting its impact on building the country’s STEM workforce.
Eligible applicants can start the process via an online eligibility check, followed by exams and interviews for final selection.
