In a statement, Recto explained that this strategic move will enhance ease of business, attract sustainable investments, and create high-quality green jobs. The tariffs on these EVs and components will be reduced to zero until 2028, fostering local manufacturing and assembly.
The initiative aligns with the Philippines' climate goals, aiming for a 75% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
By making EVs more accessible, the country accelerates its transition to eco-friendly transportation, solidifying its position as a leading manufacturing hub in Asia, he said.
