With 4,780 units sold, BYD commanded an 82-percent share of the NEV market and a 69-percent share of the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, underscoring the increasing demand for sustainable mobility solutions in the Philippines, the company said in a statement.
Top-selling models drove sales
The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i emerged as the brand’s best-selling model, with 2,669 units sold since its launch in July. It also became the top-selling NEV and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) in the second half of 2024, securing a 19-percent market share in that category.
In the BEV segment, the BYD Atto 3 subcompact crossover led sales with 1,062 units sold, capturing a 35-percent market share. Meanwhile, the compact and affordable BYD Seagull, introduced in September, gained rapid traction, selling 411 units and securing 38 percent of BEV sales in the fourth quarter of 2024.
BYD’s performance propelled it to the 11th spot among all automotive brands in the Philippines, securing a 1-percent market share and outpacing several more established players.
“We are beyond thrilled to share our performance in 2024, marking a pivotal year for BYD in the Philippines,” said Bob Palanca, managing director of BYD Cars Philippines. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the unwavering support of our dealer partners and suppliers, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers.”
Global, local expansion fuel growth
BYD’s performance in the Philippines mirrors its global performance. The brand sold 4.27 million new energy vehicles worldwide in 2024, marking a 41.26-percent increase from the previous year. This achievement cemented BYD’s status as the world’s top NEV brand.
Locally, BYD expanded its presence through a dealership network buildout. From just two dealerships at the start of 2024, the company ended the year with 25 operational dealerships nationwide. Further growth is expected, as 52 new dealership locations have been approved for development in 2025.
“The growing network of BYD dealerships and service centers, coupled with ACMobility’s expanding footprint of EV charging stations across the country, forms the foundation for a thriving EV ecosystem in the Philippines,” added Palanca.
More models, greater accessibility
With a strong 2024 performance and a rapidly expanding infrastructure, BYD is poised for even greater success in 2025. The brand plans to introduce new EV models, continue its nationwide BYD Tech Tour, and expand its charging infrastructure to support the country’s transition to electric mobility.
“Together with ACMobility, we are committed to providing more Filipinos with BYD’s global models that represent greener and smarter mobility solutions,” said Aiffy Liu, country head of BYD Philippines.
