Makati City, the Philippines’ premier hub for innovation and sustainability, has taken a bold step toward green mobility with the launch of the country’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network.
Conglomerate Ayala Corp.’s AC Mobility is stepping up its electric vehicle drive, with China’s BYD making up 1 in 5 cars sold last year, signaling accelerating EV adoption in the local market.
With 4,780 units sold, BYD commanded an 82-percent share of the NEV market and a 69-percent share of the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, underscoring the increasing demand for sustainable mobility solutions in the Philippines, the company said.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has committed $100 million (P5.8 billion) to support Ayala Corp. in overcoming key hurdles to electric vehicle (EV) adoption in the Philippines.
The company said this expansion aligns with Makati's commitment to sustainability and provides residents and visitors with increased access to charging solutions for electric vehicles.
ACMobility has acquired Evro, the Philippines’ pioneering brand-agnostic electric vehicle (EV) charging network, signaling a major push to close gaps in EV infrastructure and accelerate adoption nationwide.
