Xpress rolls out first batch of BYD EVs with exclusive driver financing

Xpress, one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing mobility platforms, has deployed its first batch of electric and hybrid vehicles powered by BYD, marking a major milestone in the country’s shift toward sustainable transportation.

The initial fleet of 40 EVs isn’t just a new ride-hailing option—it’s the foundation of a movement, said Xpress in a statement. The company emphasized that it is offering Filipino drivers more than just access—it is enabling ownership. Through this new initiative, drivers are being transformed into entrepreneurs, empowered to take control of their income and future.

To encourage rapid adoption, Xpress is offering a 0-percent commission rate for the first six months to all EV and hybrid drivers, maximizing earnings during the most crucial stage of operation.

Low-interest financing

In partnership with Cebuana Lhuillier Financing Corp., Xpress drivers are also offered exclusive, low-interest financing options—making it easier than ever to purchase their own eco-friendly vehicles.

More than just a fleet upgrade, the initiative supports the Philippine Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), helping to lower emissions while expanding livelihood opportunities. The deployment of just 40 vehicles is projected to reduce over 140 metric tons of CO₂ annually, equivalent to removing 30 gas-powered cars from the roads each year.

Support ecosystem

Driver-operators will benefit from a robust support ecosystem, including onboarding services, aftersales assistance, and access to the Xpress Driver Academy—which offers training in financial literacy, technical know-how, and business skills.

While BYD’s energy-efficient EVs lead the way, Xpress is actively seeking partnerships with other electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturers to broaden its green mobility efforts.

In a landscape where many platforms take, Xpress aims to give—cleaner air for cities, real ownership for drivers, and a more sustainable future for the Philippines. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
