The Department of Energy welcomed the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board's approval to expand tax breaks for two and three-wheeled battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) until 2028.

Chaired by President Marcos, the NEDA board approved the expansion on May 15, 2024, to include e-motorcycles, e-bicycles, e-tricycles, HEVs, and PHEV jeepneys or buses.

Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla lauded the move, emphasizing its role in enhancing electric and hybrid vehicle accessibility, fostering innovation, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
