The platform, which serves 2.3 million users via its GCash-integrated GJobs mini-program, has named seasoned HR tech entrepreneur Eddie Ybañez as its new CEO. This strategic move is designed to harness GJobs’ explosive growth and connect even more Filipino job seekers with top employers in 2025.
Employment opportunities
Since its founding in 2020 under the guidance of founder and CEO Kristen Mariano, PasaJob has built a strong reputation for delivering reliable employment opportunities across the country.
In a move to further strengthen its leadership team, the company welcomed Ybañez as CEO while Mariano will remain as COO and Chairman of the Board.
Ybañez’s extensive background in HR technology—including his role as co-founder and former chief technology officer at Payruler—makes him ideally suited to lead PasaJob into its next phase of expansion.
Growing users
In September 2023, PasaJob launched its GJobs mini-program in collaboration with GCash as part of the “finance for all” initiative. GJobs offers a diverse range of legitimate job opportunities for Filipinos of varying qualifications, allowing users to conveniently apply for positions right from their smartphones.
Uniquely, the platform also incentivizes users by offering rewards for job referrals. In less than 17 months since its debut, GJobs has already onboarded 2.3 million users, who have applied for 400,000 jobs and generated one million job referrals.
Looking ahead to 2025, Ybañez plans to accelerate PasaJob’s growth by expanding its network of employers and posting thousands of new job openings.
Leveraging AI
The upcoming product roadmap features advanced candidate search capabilities, automated pipeline building for employers, and asynchronous interviews for job seekers—all powered by artificial intelligence.
According to Ybañez, leveraging AI will streamline the hiring process, ensuring that both job seekers and employers can connect more efficiently in today’s competitive market.
By focusing on referrals—which have been shown to reduce hiring times and improve employee retention—PasaJob is well positioned to address the challenges of a fragmented talent marketplace.
Ybañez is particularly enthusiastic about partnering with fast-growing industries that require high-volume hiring, promising better culture-fit and enhanced team dynamics. — Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
