Passenger traffic at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is set to rise over the Holy Week period but at a more moderate pace as disruptions in Middle East routes weigh on travel demand.

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the operator of NAIA backed by conglomerate San Miguel Corp., projects 1.35 million passengers from March 28 to April 5, up slightly from last year’s 1.33 million.

The muted growth reflects flight suspensions and operating restrictions affecting some Middle East services, a key corridor for overseas Filipino workers.

Growth slows

Daily passenger volume is still expected to stay above 143,000, with April 5 seen as the busiest day.

Terminal 3 will handle the bulk of traffic, underscoring continued pressure on the airport’s main international gateway.

Holiday rush measures in place

    •    Deployed more personnel at check-in, immigration, and security areas

    •    Increased coordination with airlines and ground handlers

    •    Extended hours for passenger assistance desks

    •    Implemented real-time monitoring of terminal congestion

    •    Coordinated operations with DOTr, MIAA, BI, BOC, OTS, and other stakeholders
