Expect heavy traffic as Metro Pacific Tollways rolls out Holy Week plan

Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., backed by tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan, is tightening traffic control across its major expressways to manage a Holy Week surge and reduce travel delays.

The “Biyaheng Arangkada” program will run from March 27 to April 6, covering North Luzon Expressway, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, North Luzon Expressway Connector, Manila-Cavite Expressway, Cavite-Laguna Expressway, and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway.

What to expect on the road

The company said it has deployed additional personnel and response teams to improve traffic flow and quickly address incidents during peak travel days.

Motorists will have access to roadside assistance stations, medical teams on standby, free basic mechanical services, and towing to the nearest exit for Class 1 vehicles during the period.

What to watch out for

Heavy northbound traffic is expected from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday, with returning southbound congestion building over the weekend and early Monday.

Selected rest stops will also offer electric vehicle charging and free wifi, alongside 24/7 customer support through hotline 1-35000 and the MPT DriveHub app.

Roadworks and lane closures will be suspended to keep lanes open, while counterflow schemes may be activated depending on traffic conditions.
