The Sy family conglomerate SM Investments has brought in veteran executive Marife B. Zamora to its board, marking a quiet but strategic shift toward stronger governance and gender diversity.

Zamora, who brings deep experience in telecoms, insurance, and business process outsourcing, replaces Tammy Lipana, who stepped down after reaching her term limit.

“I’m truly honored to join SM’s Board,” Zamora said in a statement.

“SM mirrors the energy and growth journey of the Philippine economy. I look forward to contributing to a growing company deeply committed to independence and strong corporate governance,” she added.

Zamora is also a known champion for women in tech, co-founding the Filipina CEO Circle and supporting future female leaders through the FTW Foundation.

She joins Atty. Lilly Gruba as the second female independent director, reinforcing SM’s push for gender and leadership diversity.

“The board extends its deepest gratitude to Director Lipana for the nine years of dedicated service and invaluable insights she has provided to the company,” said SM Investments chair Amando M. Tetangco Jr. “We also welcome Ms. Zamora whose broad experience and strong track record will benefit the group.”
