On Friday, the Gokongwei family-led airline took delivery of the 459-seater aircraft in Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport. This expanded its fleet of modern A330neos to 10 planes.
“The A330neo’s versatility and efficiency are key to our goal of providing affordable and reliable travel options for every Juan,” Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao said in a statement.
Cebu Pacific recently increased trips from Manila to Dubai to 10 weekly round trips, up from seven. It also has long-haul operations serving Australia.
“This aircraft enables us to serve high-traffic routes and long-haul destinations more effectively while optimizing seat capacity to accommodate increasing demand,” he added.
Next-generation efficiency
According to Cebu Pacific, the Airbus NEO aircraft are the latest-generation planes that burn 15 percent less fuel per flight and produce less noise.
“The reduction in fuel consumption leads to a corresponding reduction in aircraft carbon emissions,” Cebu Pacific said.
Recently, the airline announced a landmark purchase agreement with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, for up to 152 A321neo aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engines.
The acquisition is the largest in Philippine aviation history, valued at about P1.4 trillion.
Cebu Pacific operates one of the world’s youngest fleets, including 10 Airbus 330s, 40 Airbus 320s, 25 Airbus 321s, and 15 ATR turboprops
