This figure surpasses the global average of 39 percent, according to JobStreet by SEEK’s Decoding Global Talent Report 2024, conducted in partnership with Boston Consulting Group and The Network.
The study surveyed over 150,000 respondents worldwide, including more than 6,400 Filipino professionals from diverse industries, educational levels, and age groups.
Filipinos aged 18-24 are the most frequent GenAI users, with 64 percent incorporating it into their workflows—double the rate of other age groups.
Top apps used
Writing tasks emerged as the leading application of GenAI at work, cited by 50 percent of respondents, while 58 percent use it for skill development and learning in their personal lives.
Among industries, those in digitalization and data sciences lead in GenAI adoption at 71 percent, followed by information technology professionals at 65 percent.
The report highlights growing concerns about AI's impact on jobs. While 82 percent of Filipino respondents expect AI to alter aspects of their work, 35 percent foresee major transformations that could reshape or eliminate roles entirely.
Apprehensions
Craft and physical work employees are the most apprehensive, with 56 percent predicting significant disruptions, whereas only 28-30 percent of technical and engineering professionals expect minimal changes.
Despite these concerns, more than 70 percent of Filipino employees are willing to reskill to remain competitive in the AI-driven workplace, contrasting global trends where employees are less inclined to adapt.
Analytical and job-specific functional skills are identified as the top areas for development. Filipinos favor self-study and video tutorials as learning methods, reflecting Southeast Asian preferences.
Reskilling, upskilling
Dannah Majarocon, managing director of JobStreet by SEEK Philippines, emphasized the potential of AI as a transformative tool, advocating for strategic reskilling and upskilling programs to enhance its adoption in the workplace.
The report encourages employers to partner with educational institutions and stakeholders to foster talent development.
