In a company release, RCBC said it was featured in Euromoney’s report, “Asia’s Best Digital Banks: The Future of Retail Banking.”
The study evaluated more than 300 retail banks globally as part of its annual research cycle, assessing digital players across Asia—particularly Southeast Asia—on paths to success, ecosystem partnerships, customer experience excellence, and financial inclusion and well-being.
Why it matters
The recognition underscores RCBC’s efforts to compete in a fast-evolving digital banking landscape, where scale, accessibility, and trust are critical differentiators.
Euromoney highlighted RCBC’s digital initiatives aimed at expanding access to financial services, strengthening digital remittances, and promoting fraud awareness and financial literacy.
The report pointed to the bank’s DiskarTech app, offered in Taglish and Cebuano, with features such as no maintaining balance, microinsurance access, low-cost transfers, and unsecured digital loans designed to lower barriers to entry.
The publication also cited RCBC’s support for overseas Filipinos, including enabling account opening abroad through home-country banking apps and foreign mobile numbers.
It noted the bank’s fully digital remittance flows, with funds routed directly into mobile applications such as DiskarTech, broadening access regardless of location.
On cybersecurity, Euromoney underscored RCBC’s use of social media and SMS campaigns to share fraud-prevention tips, emphasizing informed customers and employees as key lines of defense.
RCBC president and chief executive officer Reggie Cariaso said the recognition reflects disciplined execution of the bank’s long-term digital strategy.
“Our focus has always been on building resilient platforms that scale responsibly, support growth, and deliver consistent value to our customers.”
The report also lauded RCBC’s use of digital platforms to advance financial inclusion through partnerships and public-sector collaboration.
“Some incumbent banks in the Philippines are also taking a proactive approach to using digital banking for financial inclusion. RCBC’s DiskarTech app stands out. It has also worked to improve financial education and literacy alongside partners including government agencies, at the same time as assisting social-security disbursements and digitalising national identity,” Cariaso added.
The latest citation extends RCBC’s streak as the first bank in Asia to secure six consecutive Euromoney digital banking wins from 2020 to 2025.
“Being recognized in Euromoney’s research affirms our focus on practical, inclusive digital banking and solutions that respond to how Filipinos actually live and work, whether at home or overseas,” said Lito Villanueva, RCBC executive vice president and chief innovation and inclusion officer.
“Our priority has always been to make digital banking accessible, secure, and relevant,” he stressed — Princess Daisy C. Ominga | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
