One solution rising fast in popularity is co-living—a lifestyle that balances affordability, convenience, and community. Across Asia’s urban centers, the co-living sector is growing at an annual rate of over 20 percent, driven largely by millennials and Gen Zs who value flexibility and a curated lifestyle over traditional housing models.
Recognizing this shift, Ayala Land introduced The CityFlats—a co-living concept designed for the mobile, socially connected generation. These all-inclusive, strategically located homes tackle the challenges of urban living by reducing commute times and providing vibrant, thoughtfully designed spaces that foster a strong sense of community.
Currently, The CityFlats operates in four locations across Metro Manila—Amorsolo, Sacred Heart, Circuit Makati, and Bonifacio Global City (BGC)—each tailored to different lifestyles. Amorsolo caters to corporate professionals working in the central business district.
Sacred Heart provides a more residential feel while maintaining easy access to key areas. Circuit Makati embraces artistic communities and includes an artist-in-residence program, while BGC offers immediate access to one of the Philippines' most dynamic districts, ideal for digital creatives and urban explorers.
More than just a place to stay, Ayala Land says The CityFlats promotes modern co-living through shared amenities, flexible leases, and thoughtfully designed units that accommodate up to four residents. Each room comes furnished with essential items, and every floor features PWD-accessible units.
A standout feature is the emphasis on community-building, it adds. Regular events like movie nights, art jams, and wellness workshops help transform casual co-residents into a close-knit group of “flatmates,” promoting both connection and collaboration.
The CityFlats' flexibility is another major draw: residents can opt for long-term leases or shorter daily stays, suiting everyone from full-time employees to students and freelancers in transition.
Following its Metro Manila success, Ayala Land recently launched The CityFlats Cebu I.T. Park, a 14-story building with 466 rooms—including 396 co-living units and 70 hostel rooms—to meet the growing demand for centrally located, budget-friendly housing in the Queen City of the South. A second Cebu location at Cebu Business Park is slated to open later this year. —ED: Corrie S. Narisma
