Alphaland backs Itogon relief, suspends Benguet resort for safety

Alphaland Corporation is stepping up relief efforts for communities in Itogon, Benguet after weeks of heavy rainfall triggered landslides across the municipality, while temporarily closing Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges (ABML) as authorities assess the extent of damage.

The move comes after the Province of Benguet was placed under a state of calamity due to prolonged severe weather that disrupted communities and damaged infrastructure. Landslides affected barangays surrounding ABML and portions of the property itself. Based on available information, no casualties have been reported in the affected communities or within the resort.

Alphaland said it is working with local authorities to assist affected families and support ongoing relief and safety operations.

“Our neighbors in Itogon are going through a very difficult time, and we are doing what we can alongside the local government to help,” Alphaland president Dennis Valdes said in a statement on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. “Within our own property, we are taking no chances with anyone’s safety.”

What happened

As a precaution, ABML has suspended access for all homeowners and visitors until further notice to allow response teams to remove debris and inspect affected areas.

The company said homeowners have been informed separately of the temporary restriction. Access will resume only after the property has been assessed and authorities determine that conditions are safe.

Alphaland has also engaged independent engineering specialists to evaluate roads, slopes, buildings, and other infrastructure inside the property. The assessment will guide stabilization, repair, and restoration work, as well as determine when the development can safely reopen.

The company said it will continue releasing verified updates on community assistance, site conditions, access restrictions, and recovery efforts as more information becomes available.

Alphaland also reiterated its commitment to supporting affected communities in Itogon as recovery efforts continue in coordination with the local government.
