Insider Spotlight
The collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of agreement, marks the first local initiative under RLC's "Hand in Hand for Progress" community development platform.
The partnership seeks to connect urban improvements with tourism growth and livelihood development, potentially benefiting local businesses, cultural workers and residents.
Planned projects include greener public spaces, better-designed transport stops and improved wayfinding systems to help residents and tourists navigate Bacolod's heritage sites, culinary destinations and commercial establishments.
The initiative builds on RLC's longstanding presence in Bacolod, beginning with Robinsons Bacolod's opening in 1997, followed by Cybergate Bacolod and Go Hotels Plus Bacolod.
Creative Bacolod
The improvements will complement Creative Bacolod, a city government platform promoting the city's heritage, cuisine, culture and artisanal communities through tourism.
Community-focused programs will include communication training for tour bus and taxi drivers to improve visitor experiences.
Senior citizens will also be encouraged to serve as local guides, sharing their knowledge of Bacolod's history and cultural identity.
Employment, entrepreneurship opportunities
The partnership will pursue employment and entrepreneurship opportunities through job fairs, livelihood programs and support for environmentally sustainable businesses.
Environmental education and school-led socio-civic activities are also planned to encourage younger residents to participate in community development.
Long-term growth
The initiative brings together the local government, private sector and barangay communities under the Filipino tradition of bayanihan, emphasizing collective responsibility for urban progress.
Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya and Robinsons Land president and CEO Mybelle Aragon-GoBio joined other officials in formalizing the partnership.
The collaboration positions public-space improvements, tourism development and community participation as interconnected priorities supporting Bacolod's long-term growth. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S Narisma
