Businesses preparing for electric mobility are increasingly looking at battery storage and charging infrastructure as ways to manage electricity costs, optimize power capacity, and improve energy resilience.

Greenstrum, ACMobility’s electric vehicle charging subsidiary, and Huawei Technologies Philippines recently held their first business-to-business showcase, highlighting integrated EV charging and battery energy storage solutions for enterprises.

Why it matters

As commercial properties incorporate EV charging facilities, managing additional electricity demand without costly infrastructure upgrades is becoming an important consideration.

Held at Huawei’s showroom in Bonifacio Global City, the session titled “The New Energy Advantage” gathered more than 20 participants from five enterprises, including property developers and academic institutions.

The showcase featured Huawei’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), which stores electricity during low-demand periods and releases it when demand rises.

Integrated with Greenstrum’s EV charging infrastructure, the technology could help businesses reduce peak demand, maximize existing electrical capacity, and strengthen operational resilience, according to a company release.

The bigger picture

Greenstrum and Huawei are positioning battery storage as part of a broader approach to commercial electrification rather than a standalone equipment investment.

“Greenstrum and Huawei bring together expertise in implementation and the capability to do the design engineering in order to optimize the output of a battery storage system for the client. We don’t come in just to provide hardware. What we do is we come in and provide a solution,” Greenstrum chief operating officer Carl Decleodt said.

On the ground: Property developers are already assessing how battery storage could support charging requirements in residential and commercial developments.

DMCI Homes electrical engineer Daniel Garcia said the company is incorporating EV charging facilities into its condominiums.

“The information given to us regarding BESS and EV chargers is a big help. Having greater power demand versus contracted demand has a big impact on the chargers we’re incorporating, and I think that BESS can help us greatly.”

Daiichi Properties purchasing officer Liezl Mico also pointed to potential long-term savings as equipment utilization increases.
