The telecommunications company generated more than P510 million in energy savings in 2025 through investments in energy-efficient network infrastructure and artificial intelligence, while expanding technologies designed to help build smarter and more liveable communities across the country.
Globe highlighted these initiatives during the Liveable Cities Lab at the Asian Institute of Management, where government officials, local government representatives, businesses, and sustainability advocates discussed strategies for accelerating the transition to cleaner and more sustainable cities.
AI-powered savings
According to Globe, one of the biggest contributors to last year's savings was the continued expansion of its Green Network program.
The company deployed 20,800 new energy-efficient technologies across its operations in 2025, reducing electricity consumption throughout its network and facilities.
Artificial intelligence has also become central to Globe's sustainability strategy. AI automatically adjusts the energy consumption of cell sites based on network demand, ensuring power is used only when needed. AI-driven cooling systems likewise optimize electricity use inside company buildings, further improving operational efficiency.
"By adopting Green Network and AI-driven energy efficiency technologies, Globe is proving that resource efficiency and environmental sustainability go hand in hand," Globe vice president for risk and property management Raymond Aguilar said in a statement.
Beyond operations
Globe has also introduced storage optimization technologies within its Network Function Virtualization environment, allowing unused servers to automatically power down during periods of low demand.
Additional initiatives include replacing conventional lead-acid batteries with more energy-efficient lithium-ion and sodium-nickel batteries, while continuing investments in renewable energy and hybrid electric vehicles.
Beyond improving its own operations, Globe said these innovations can help cities and municipalities pursue their sustainability targets while supporting the objectives of the New Government Procurement Act (Republic Act No. 12009), which promotes sustainable and efficient public procurement.
