The new service is powered by DITO’s standalone “true 5G” network and developed in partnership with Huawei Technologies.
The company said the service offers speeds of up to 100 Mbps to bring the benefits of 5G technology for Filipino households.
“In reality, the current internet options of Filipino households are quite limiting. You can get fast and unlimited Wi-Fi, but it won’t be cheap; you can get fast and affordable, but not unlimited, and you can get affordable and unlimited, but it won’t be fast—this is the reality we live in,” DITO chief revenue officer for consumer business Evelyn Jimenez.
“As the third telco committed to enhancing the lives of the Filipino people, we want to change the norm and disrupt the market by giving Filipinos the home internet they deserve—fast, unlimited, and affordable,” she added.
The plug-and-play DITO Home WOWFi is a prepaid service, requiring no documents, monthly fees, or contracts. The starter kit costs P1,990 and includes unlimited 5G data for 30 days. The monthly load option costs P790.
The company said this service is particularly suitable for underserved areas, providing a reliable alternative to wired connections.
In the context of wireless internet, RedCap — short for “reduced capability” — is a new 5G standard designed to offer a lighter version of full 5G features while maintaining essential capabilities.
Also known as NR-Light, RedCap operates on standalone 5G networks and provides a balance between high data rates, low latency, and efficient power usage without requiring the extensive bandwidth of traditional 5G.
It is optimized for applications that do not need the full capacity of standard 5G, such as smart home devices, wearables, and certain Internet of Things applications, making it suitable for broader consumer use while still delivering advanced 5G benefits.
