The Po family’s Century Pacific Food Inc. (CNPF), known for its canned tuna and Birch Tree milk, has quietly emerged as one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing forces in the coconut industry.

The company, trading under the stock symbol CNPF, is acquiring Roxas Sigma Agriventures Inc.’s fully integrated coconut processing plant in Tupi, South Cotabato, from Roxas and Co. Inc. for around $45 million, which includes planned upgrades.

Proceeds from the sale will allow Roxas and Co. to pay off bank debt and other liabilities as it refocuses on its landholdings in Nasugbu, Batangas.

CNPF plans to upgrade the 2.2-hectare facility—which produces coconut cream, milk, virgin coconut oil, and coconut water concentrate—to expand capacity and efficiency for both export and domestic markets.

The transaction will support about 800 quality manufacturing jobs in Mindanao, strengthening local livelihoods and regional economic activity.

“This acquisition is a milestone for our coconut business and a testament to our commitment to inclusive growth,” said CNPF vice president Noel Tempongko Jr.

“By expanding our capacity in coconuts, we not only enhance our competitiveness in the global coconut industry but also create meaningful economic opportunities for local communities in Mindanao,” he added.

The South Cotabato plant joins CNPF’s existing network of coconut hubs in General Santos (its first facility), Misamis Occidental (acquired in 2024), and Linaco Manufacturing in Southeast Asia.

This boosts the company’s footprint to four major production sites, marking another milestone in its steady expansion since entering the coconut segment in 2012.
