The iconic Filipino restaurant chain chose to mark the occasion by sharing a comforting meal with young athletes from the National Capital Region (NCR), many of whom were setting foot in Ilocos Norte for the first time.
Instead of fanfare, Max’s served its signature dishes—classic fried chicken, kare-kare, and pancit canton—offering not just nourishment, but also a taste of home and heartfelt support. It was a welcome that resonated deeply with the student-athletes, who carry the pride and dreams of their regions.
“We opened in Laoag not just to grow, but to give back to the community,” said Josephine Sta. Ana, operations head of Max’s Restaurant. “As we near 80 years of serving Filipino families, this opening is our tribute to the youth and the people who continue to inspire us.”
For 15-year-old NCR volleyball player John Howard Guerra, the experience was unforgettable. “It was my first time in Laoag, and the hospitality of the Ilocanos—and the welcome from Max’s—made me feel like I was among family,” he shared.
The 2025 Palarong Pambansa took place from May 24 to May 31.
This heartwarming initiative reflects Max’s deeper commitment: to go beyond physical expansion and cultivate genuine connections with communities.
Similar community-driven openings have taken place across the country—from honoring long-time suppliers in Marikina to surprising loyal guests in Novaliches and celebrating staff stories in Imus.
With its Laoag opening, Max’s once again proves that its legacy is not just built on great food, but on meaningful moments shared. As it celebrates 80 years of “Sarap-to-the-Max” experiences, Max’s continues to grow—one heartfelt community at a time. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
