Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque on Jan. 8 praised JFC for advancing the government’s employment agenda as it opened a new food commissary in Barangay Guinsay, Danao City, Cebu.
What they’re saying
“This commissary is a massive win for Danao and the entire province of Cebu,” Roque was quoted in a press release as saying at the inauguration.
“Every new commissary Jollibee opens represents more jobs, more security, and more growth for our local industries.”
She added that the expansion reflects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to attract investments while strengthening domestic supply chains.
“As we open more commissaries, we are also encouraging more investments in our country while strengthening our supply chain as well. And this is what the President really wants,” she said.
The details
Launched on Jan. 8, 2026, the facility is JFC’s fourth commissary hub in Cebu and its 12th nationwide. Construction began in May 2023.
The site supplies Jollibee and six of its 13 brands, supporting stores across Visayas and Mindanao to improve logistics efficiency for southern expansion.
Between the lines
JFC Philippines president Joseph Tanbuntiong said the commissary strengthens distribution capabilities and supports regional development. He leads domestic operations and oversees key supply chain and farmer partnership programs.
What’s next
The project is expected to generate hundreds of jobs, boost operations beyond Luzon, and improve food supply resilience.
Roque urged JFC to continue opening commissaries nationwide and pledged government support to help accelerate similar investments. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
