Taipan Lucio Tan's Philippine Airlines (PAL) has entered into a temporary wet-lease agreement with Europe’s Wamos Air to strengthen its fleet during the upcoming travel peak.
Starting June 1, 2024, PAL will lease two Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which will serve the Manila-Sydney and Manila-Melbourne routes over five months, the flag carrier said in a statement.
These aircraft will maintain PAL’s service standards, offering amenities similar to those on PAL’s own A330s, with PAL cabin crew onboard to ensure the airline’s signature service quality.
PAL president and chief operating officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng said the Watmost deal helps augment PAL’s fleet amid ongoing global supply chain constraints.
“We see the need to temporarily add these aircraft to ensure that we have sufficient capacity to meet the demand that we are anticipating across our network,” Ng said.
