Industry giant Cebu Pacific celebrated the relaunch of its Manila-Kaohsiung flights with a lively event at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Friday.

The Gokongwei-led carrier briefly served the route between 2008 and 2009 before discontinuing trips.

The ceremony on Friday was attended byTransportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Civil Aeronautics Board Executive Director Atty. Carmelo Arcilla, and representatives from the Manila International Airport Authority and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO).

The airline will now offer Manila-Kaohsiung flights three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Cebu Pacific chief corporate affairs Officer Michael Ivan Shau called the route’s relaunch an “exciting chapter” for the airline as it broadens its network across Asia.

“The relaunch of this route is more than just the restoration of a connection between two vibrant cities. It is a reaffirmation of our commitment to bringing people together, fostering closer ties, and promoting mutual growth and development,” said Shau.

Transportation Secretary Bautista praised Cebu Pacific for expanding its services.

“I am very happy that Cebu Pacific is expanding its operations. We have the same objective of providing comfortable, accessible, safe, sustainable, and affordable travel experience to the riding public,” Bautista said.

To celebrate, Cebu Pacific is offering one-way flights from Manila to Kaohsiung for as low as P1,288, available from August 16 to 25, 2024, for travel until January 31, 2025. Passengers on the inaugural Friday flight enjoyed Taiwanese cuisine and received souvenirs from Taiwan Tourism and TECO before departure.
