Emirates is adopting this strategy as Dubai intensifies efforts to attract summer travelers despite the region's warmer months.
The airline has introduced a series of summer offers for passengers traveling to or through Dubai, including complimentary stays at the JW Marriott Marquis, access to discounts through My Emirates Pass, and suggested itineraries via its Dubai Experience platform.
The offers apply to eligible travelers booking return tickets during the promotional period, with travel running through Sept. 30.
Why it matters
Airlines are increasingly positioning stopovers as revenue-generating tourism opportunities, while destinations seek to convert transit passengers into longer-staying visitors.
Emirates said travelers booking return First Class or Business Class tickets can receive a two-night complimentary stay at the JW Marriott Marquis, while Premium Economy and Economy passengers are eligible for a one-night stay, subject to terms and conditions. The offer is available for trips to or stopovers in Dubai lasting more than 24 hours.
Company deputy president and chief commercial officer Adnan Kazim said in a press statement, “Whether visitors are seeking relaxation, adventure, entertainment or a combination of all three, Dubai is the ideal start to any summer vacation. We’re inviting passengers to enjoy even more of the city with a complimentary hotel stay to take advantage of the exceptional range of shopping, entertainment, dining and family-friendly experiences that define the Dubai summer experience, when stopping over as part of your journey or visiting Dubai as your final destination.”
