The Gokongwei family-led retailer will officially leave the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Aug. 31 this year.
The PSE approved Robinsons Retail’s voluntary delisting on Aug. 19, putting a firm end date to its more than 13-year run as a listed company.
Final days on the PSE
The Gokongwei family had already secured enough shares to take Robinsons Retail private after completing a tender offer in July.
Through JE Holdings Inc., the family bought 229.58 million shares for about P11.1 billion, raising its ownership to 99.69 percent.
The firm was earlier targeting to delist from the PSE on July 28.
Next chapter
The delisting ends Robinsons Retail’s life as a publicly traded company, but its sprawling retail business carries on.
The group operates Robinsons Supermarket, The Marketplace, Southstar Drug, Handyman, Toys “R” Us, Daiso and other brands as it pursues its next chapter as the Philippines’ “retailer of choice.”
