Executives of the listed firm led the ceremonial launch alongside Batangas Vice Governor Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas, Montemaria Resort OPC president Guoan Wu, and other officials.
The upcoming attraction is planned as a 2,000-square-meter indoor facility capable of accommodating around 300 guests at a time. Visitors will enter a simulated icy environment featuring ice slides, themed ice villages, and interactive ice sports designed for guests of all ages.
Why it matters
Montemaria has primarily been known as a pilgrimage destination, anchored by the Mother of All Asia – Tower of Peace, a 98-meter statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary considered one of the tallest Marian statues in the world.
By introducing family-oriented attractions, AbaCore is positioning the estate as a broader tourism destination that blends faith-based travel with leisure experiences.
The move could help extend visitor stays and diversify the activities available to pilgrims and tourists visiting Batangas.
The big picture
In a company release, AbaCore said the project is part of its continuing effort to develop Montemaria into a destination for spiritual reflection and family gatherings rooted in Filipino values of faith and togetherness.
Alongside the Ice World groundbreaking, Montemaria also opened a souvenir shop offering memorabilia and locally crafted products reflecting the site’s cultural and spiritual identity.
The estate simultaneously launched the 9D Marine Adventure ride, an immersive attraction highlighting the biodiversity of the nearby Verde Island Passage, widely recognized as one of the most important marine ecosystems in the world.
What they’re saying
“Ice World is designed to complement Montemaria’s one-of-a-kind environment, offering fun and interactive experiences for all visitors,” said Wu. “Our goal is to provide a unique attraction that appeals to families, tourists, and pilgrims, creating lasting memories while appreciating the natural and cultural beauty of the estate,” Wu added.
“These developments reflect our commitment to growing Montemaria into a destination where faith and family bonding come together,” said Atty. Antonio Victoriano F. Gregorio III, chairman and president of ABA. “We see Montemaria as a destination where visitors come together not only for spiritual reflection but also for creating beautiful memories with their loved ones.” —Princess Daisy C.
