Insider Spotlight

  • Taiwan Expo 2026 is strengthening its Business Matching Program to connect Philippine corporate buyers, retailers, distributors and entrepreneurs with Taiwanese enterprises
  • The matching initiative comes as Philippine companies face pressure to make investments that can improve productivity and competitiveness
  • Taiwan Expo 2025 attracted more than 10,000 visitors and buyers and generated about $53.4 million in business opportunities

Connecting Philippine companies directly with potential Taiwanese suppliers and business partners will be a key commercial thrust of Taiwan Expo 2026, as local businesses contend with a tougher environment for investment and productivity growth.

Dealmaking component

The expo, scheduled for Sept. 17 to 19 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, will offer Philippine corporate buyers, retailers, distributors and entrepreneurs access to Taiwanese enterprises through an enhanced Business Matching Program.

The program adds a dealmaking component to an event showcasing Taiwanese products and technologies across multiple industries.

Productivity support

Philippine businesses are operating against softer economic conditions that could make investment decisions more selective. Philippine gross domestic product grew 2.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, while gross capital formation fell 9.2 percent over the same period.

That backdrop puts greater emphasis on identifying technologies and potential suppliers that could support productivity and competitiveness.

Taiwan Excellence Pavillion

One source of potential matches will be the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, which brings together recognized Taiwanese products from different sectors in one area.

Taiwan Excellence products undergo a competitive selection process covering research and development, design, quality and marketing. Unlike industry-specific pavilions, the showcase spans multiple sectors, giving Philippine visitors access to different technologies and products.

$53.4 million in business opportunities

Taiwan Expo has already demonstrated its capacity to generate commercial engagement in the Philippine market. Its 2025 edition attracted more than 10,000 visitors and buyers and generated approximately $53.4 million in business opportunities.

Important measure

The enhanced matching program could be an important measure of whether this year’s expo translates buyer interest into concrete supplier, distribution and other business discussions.
