The project will focus on New Clark City in Tarlac, Morong Discovery Park in Bataan, Camp John Hay in Baguio, and Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
BCDA president and CEO Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang and LDIC president and CEO Ramoncito S. Yu III formalized the agreement, aimed at accelerating discussions with mobile network operators and facilitating the deployment and subleasing of common telecom towers.
The partnership underscores BCDA's commitment to bolstering digital infrastructure and driving economic growth in its key developments.
LDIC, a homegrown independent telecommunications tower operator backed by Japan's Sojitz Corp. and New Founderco Holdings Corp., will lead the studies to assess the project's feasibility.
As part of the agreement, LDIC will conduct financial and pre-investment assessments at no cost to BCDA, with findings to be submitted within a year of the project's approval.
Bingcang emphasized the partnership's importance, stating: “Our partnership with LDIC represents a significant step in our goal to ramp up internet connectivity in our developments. Through this initiative, we can build the right infrastructure that will advance and propel digitalization of businesses and communities present in our developments.”
The project aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to collaborate with the private sector in implementing common telecom towers, which are expected to improve internet services nationwide.
Additionally, BCDA is working with PhilTower Consortium Inc. to further improve digital connectivity, particularly in Bonifacio Global City and New Clark City, with existing rooftop cell sites already operational.
These initiatives support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 9), promoting resilient infrastructure and fostering innovation.
