The broadband and digital infrastructure provider showcased its AI-ready data center platform to the President on Friday, pitching its facilities as a sovereign cloud for government agencies under Executive Order No. 119.
“EO 119 marks a defining moment for the digital backbone of our government,” Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and co-founder, said in a statement on Friday.
"We built this data center and our entire national digital infrastructure for this exact purpose: to meet the strict demands of highly regulated sectors where absolute control over data is non-negotiable,” he said.
“We commend President Marcos for championing this timely policy, which will not only secure our country’s digital progress for years to come, but also drive vital new investments into the local data center sector,” he added.
AI-ready infrastructure
President Marcos visited Converge’s 12-megawatt, Uptime Tier III Certified, AI-capable Angeles Data Center on Friday after issuing Executive Order No. 119, which updates decades-old rules on government digital transactions through new standards on data classification, data residency, cross-border data transfers and cybersecurity.
“We are preparing for the future right now. By establishing our own sovereign data center, cloud and AI infrastructure, we are safeguarding our nation’s data, bridging our islands, and ensuring the Philippines is ready for the AI era,” the President said during the visit.
Keeping government data local
Converge said its sovereign cloud platform would allow government agencies to migrate systems from foreign-hosted servers to infrastructure operated entirely within the Philippines, helping keep critical public data under local jurisdiction while supporting AI-ready workloads.
Uy said the company would continue expanding its facilities to meet rising demand for high-density computing and strengthen the country’s readiness for artificial intelligence adoption and regional digital growth.
