In a press briefing in Taguig City on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the firm said the agreement marks an expansion of Converge’s initial deployment of Ribbon’s high-capacity optical solutions in Luzon, extending the rollout to its entire domestic network.
The upgrade is aimed at supporting rising demand for high-speed, low-latency, and resilient connectivity for both residential and enterprise users.
Key points:
Converge will deploy Ribbon’s Muse Multilayer Automation Platform (MAP), a system designed to optimize network resources through automation, analysis, and planning capabilities. The platform integrates low-code automation and AI features that enable faster, more efficient operations.
“We are planning important developments in the products and services we offer to our customers, and it’s vital that our infrastructure can support these,” Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy said. “Adopting this new technology is essential for effectively managing large amounts of data from IoT applications, cloud services, and future innovations.”
The upgraded infrastructure will include Ribbon’s 5-nanometer, 140Gbaud optical transmission chipset, capable of delivering data at up to 1.2 terabits per second. Converge previously implemented the technology in selected metro and regional areas in North and Central Luzon. The next phase will cover all remaining areas in the country.
Ribbon Communications CEO and president Bruce McClelland said the technology will strengthen Converge’s ability to deliver premium network services.
“We are delighted to support Converge in enhancing their network, which has been acknowledged as one of the most advanced in the Philippines,” he said. “Our cutting-edge technology delivers exceptional performance, enabling companies like Converge to even strengthen their competitive advantage.”
Uy noted that the expanded deployment will allow Converge to handle more complex applications and services, including enterprise solutions and cloud-based platforms, ensuring the network is future-ready.
Ribbon Communications, headquartered in Texas, is listed on the NASDAQ and provides IP and optical networking solutions to telecommunications companies and critical infrastructure sectors globally.
