Industry giant Ayala Corp. announced an unexpected reshuffle in its finance leadership after long-time controller Josephine G. de Asis stepped aside from the role she has held for more than a decade.

The conglomerate disclosed that de Asis was no longer serving as controller effective March 9, 2026, the stated reason being, she was “unable to carry out the duties of the position at this time”.

This came as a surprise since de Asis, respected within the organization, had overseen Ayala’s financial reporting since August 2012, a period that saw the banking, telecommunications, property and power giant rapidly expand.

A certified public accountant, de Asis previously headed the financial control division of Globe Telecom and graduated summa cum laude in accountancy from Polytechnic University of the Philippines, later completing an executive management program at UCLA.

To maintain continuity, the board appointed managing director and chief audit executive Catherine H. Ang as acting controller, shifting one of the group’s most senior governance officers into the finance reporting role.

Ang’s move triggered another change, with senior internal audit manager Roxanne Kate L. Petilla named acting chief audit executive, completing the leadership reshuffle across Ayala’s internal control and reporting functions.
