Insider Spotlight
The big picture
TMP’s partnership aligns with the summit theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” reinforcing the role of private sector players in enabling secure and seamless mobility for high-level regional engagements.
Lexus will provide a fleet of electrified vehicles, including hybrid electric models such as the LS500 and LM350, to transport heads of state and delegates across key venues in Manila and Cebu.
Why it matters
The move underscores how automakers are leveraging major geopolitical events to showcase low-emission technologies while supporting government sustainability agendas. It also positions the Philippines as a testing ground for premium electrified mobility in Southeast Asia.
“By serving as the official mobility partner for ASEAN 2026, we aim to demonstrate how secure, seamless mobility can coexist with a deep commitment to nation-building and a sustainable future,” Masando Hashimoto, president of TMP, said in a press statement on May 5, 2026.
Between the lines
The ASEAN National Organizing Council sees the partnership as a signal of stronger regional focus on climate resilience and energy security, key agenda items for the summit.
Lexus is also using the platform to advance its “Lexus Electrified” vision, which includes hybrid and fully electric models such as the RZ, RX 350h, and NX350h.
What’s new
Beyond vehicle deployment, TMP is highlighting its charging infrastructure and dealer network, spanning Lexus Manila and multiple Toyota dealerships nationwide, to demonstrate the practicality of electric mobility.
The company is also supporting ASEAN Business Advisory Council events with shuttle services, extending its role beyond government transport.
The bottom line
Toyota and Lexus are turning ASEAN 2026 into a high-visibility stage for electrified transport, blending diplomacy, sustainability, and brand positioning as the region accelerates toward greener mobility solutions. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
