Insider Spotlight
In a press statement on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, the company said its recently launched Evo, Feliz II, and Viper models are equipped with an IP67-rated powertrain that protects critical electric drivetrain components from dust and temporary water immersion, giving riders greater confidence during heavy rains and flooding.
The announcement comes as the Vietnamese electric vehicle maker expands its presence in the Philippine market through a growing dealership footprint and planned battery-swapping network.
Why it matters
Flooding and poor road conditions remain major concerns for Filipino commuters, making durability a key selling point for electric motorcycles.
VinFast is betting that weather-resistant engineering, combined with lower operating costs, will encourage more consumers to shift from gasoline-powered motorcycles to battery-electric alternatives.
According to the company, the motor and motor control unit in the Evo, Feliz II, and Viper carry an IP67 protection rating. VinFast said internal testing showed the motorcycles could withstand submersion in up to 0.5 meters of water for 30 minutes and continue operating through the same depth for the same duration.
The bigger picture
Beyond water resistance, VinFast said its battery systems are designed to meet European ECE-R136 safety requirements for impact protection, an important consideration for roads with potholes and uneven surfaces.
The motorcycles also underwent a 500-hour salt spray test to assess corrosion resistance in humid environments, while battery systems incorporate overvoltage and overtemperature protection and have passed internal durability testing at temperatures of up to 80 degrees Celsius.
The three models can accommodate up to two removable 1.5 kWh LFP batteries. With dual batteries, the Evo offers up to 150 kilometers of range and a top speed of 80 km/h, while the Feliz II reaches up to 90 km/h with a range of up to 145 kilometers. The Viper adds features including a TFT display, smart key, anti-theft protection, and vehicle tracking.
VinFast said it backs its electric motorcycles and purchased batteries with warranties of up to six years or 72,000 kilometers.
The company also inaugurated 21 e-motorcycle dealerships during its Philippine launch and plans to expand further. It estimates riders could reduce total ownership costs by 17-28 percent over five years compared with similarly positioned gasoline motorcycles, depending on the model and ownership option. —Daxim L.
