In a statement, Prime Infra said its 64-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Maragondon, Cavite will boost the output of another facility in Tanauan, Batangas to collectively supply 128 MW of clean energy.
Their combined output is expected to power approximately 84,000 households and displace over 100,000 tons of coal annually, Prime Infra president and CEO Guillaume Lucci said.
During the inauguration, Lucci emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting the national transition to clean energy, highlighting the project’s role in achieving energy security and affordability.
“The completion of the Maragondon solar power plant is a significant milestone for the Prime Infra’s energy portfolio,” he said. “We have reached this point of course thanks to like-minded partners who not only envision a more sustainable future but actively work towards achieving it.”
Prime Solar has a 50-megawatt, 20-year power supply agreement with Meralco, ensuring a fixed energy price for consumers and additional financial benefits for the local community. Constructed using advanced technology, the Maragondon and Tanauan plants underscore Prime Infra’s commitment to innovative and sustainable infrastructure.
The July 17 event was also attended by Department of Energy Renewable Energy Management Bureau Director Marissa Cerezo, ERC chair and CEO Monalisa Dimalanta, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, Maragondon Mayor Lawrence Arca, and Prime Solar President and CEO Cheryll Len Mendoza.
