Located in Barangays San Vicente and Sta. Cruz in Dagohoy, the 27-megawatt peak facility aims to address Bohol’s growing energy demands and enhance grid stability in the Visayas.
Developed by Petroenergy’s Dagohoy Green Energy Corp. (DGEC), DSPP spans 22 hectares and houses over 40,000 solar panels. It is projected to produce 41,000 megawatt hours of electricity annually, powering more than 18,000 homes while reducing carbon emissions by 28,642 metric tons annually.
Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla, represented by Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara, lauded the initiative, stating, “The completion of the project exemplifies the government’s efforts in accelerating renewable energy (RE) utilization to achieve a more energy-sufficient and climate-resilient Philippines.”
Bohol Governor Erico “Aris” Aumentado emphasized the project’s significance, calling it “a leap towards energy independence” that aligns with the province’s sustainability goals. The DSPP is expected to reduce reliance on imported electricity from neighboring islands and aging diesel plants, which have historically supported the province’s burgeoning tourism and business sectors.
The project was developed by DGEC, a venture between Japan’s Taisei Corporation and PetroGreen Energy Corporation, a Yuchengco Group company.
DGEC president Francisco Delfin, Jr. described the solar farm as both “an instrument and inspiration” for renewable energy adoption in the region.
Dagohoy Mayor Hermie Relampagos praised the project’s community impact, including jobs for over 600 locals during construction and tax revenue supporting various initiatives. “Dagohoy is proud to lead in driving sustainable energy solutions,” said Relampagos.
DSPP’s operation marks a pivotal step in Bohol’s energy sustainability journey, reinforcing its position as a model for renewable energy projects in the Philippines.
